May 31, 2006 - Midwest League (MWL1)
West Michigan Whitecaps News Release
COMSTOCK PARK, MI - Grand Rapids has a new outdoor, entertainment venue. The newly constructed Miller Lite House Deck at Fifth Third Ballpark is playing host to several post-game parties with live bands and drink specials. The events are scheduled to begin after a regular Whitecaps game and will take advantage of the open air atmosphere of the Miller Lite House Deck.
"The Miller Lite House Deck is such a unique space - it's perfect not only for watching a baseball game, but also for relaxing and listening to some great music," said Whitecaps marketing manager Mickey Graham. "The post-game parties are the perfect way to end the week and start the weekend."
The next Miller Lite Postgame Party is scheduled for Friday, June 2 and will feature Frank Bang. The Chicago blues artist has been compared to hard-driving, rock-jam bands like Govt Mule and the Black Crowes. Bang started his music career working with guitar legend Buddy Guy and branched out on his own five years ago. Recently, his cd Frank Bang's Secret Stash has earned his fans around the country. Bang has toured extensively in the U.S., Canada and Europe, appeared on "The Tonight Show," and played with the Dave Matthews Band for two shows at Soldier Field.
"We're really excited to have someone of Frank Bang's caliber play one of our post-game parties," said Graham. "His music is incredible and he's the perfect artist to play on the Miller Lite House Deck. Even if you aren't a fan of blues, you're going to love Frank Bang."
The fun on June 2 actually starts at 6:00 p.m. when gates open for the Whitecaps game against the Swing of the Quad Cities. Any ticket to Friday's Whitecaps game will serve as your entrance to the party following the conclusion of the action on the field. If you can't make it to the game, you can enjoy the music and open air environment for just $5. Tickets for the game can be purchased at the Whitecaps box office, by calling 616-784-4131 or visiting the Whitecaps website, whitecapsbaseball.com. You can buy a ticket to the postgame party at the Miller Lite House Deck on Friday. Anyone who wishes to attend the postgame party must be 21.
The next Miller Lite House Deck Post-Game Party is scheduled for Friday, July 7 and will feature Nick Moss with special guest Hank Mowery.
