Cougars Acquire Jaxsen Wiebe from Edmonton

PRINCE GEORGE - Head Coach & General Manager Mark Lamb has announced the acquisition of forward Jaxsen Wiebe (02) and a conditional eighth-round pick in 2026 from the Edmonton Oil Kings in exchange for forward Noah Boyko (02), a 2023 third-round draft pick, and a conditional draft pick in 2026.

Wiebe, 20, was drafted by the Red Deer Rebels in the seventh round, 141st overall, in the WHL Prospects Draft. The product of Moose Jaw, SK had four points (3G-1A) in six games with Edmonton this season. Wiebe was a part of the 2021-22 WHL championship team that went to the Memorial Cup. Wiebe was tied for the team lead in scoring at the Memorial Cup with four points in four games (3G-1A) which was highlighted by his hat-trick against the Saint John Sea Dogs.

"Jaxsen is a unique player that brings a physical element and has the experience of winning" Lamb on the acquisition of Wiebe.

In 130 WHL games combined with both the Oil Kings and Red Deer Rebels, the 6'2" 209-pound forward has collected 60 points (22G-38A). Wiebe will wear number 22 and has one more game to serve of his seven-game suspension from earlier this season. The 20-year-old forward will be eligible to get in the lineup when the Cougars embark on their six-game road trip which begins December 4th at Vancouver.

Boyko, 20, appeared in 22 games this season for the Prince George Cougars and registered 10 points (5G-5A) in that span. The Cougars would like to thank Noah for his contributions to the organization on and off the ice and wish him the best of luck with his new team.
