Edmonton Oil Kings News Release

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings are pleased to announce that they will once again be partnering with United Way's Coats for Kids and Families program.

On Sunday, December 4 at the Oil Kings game against the Regina Pats at 4:00 PM, they will be accepting donations of winter outerwear for men, women, children, and infants.

"Coats for Kids is a valuable partnership that we are thrilled to participate in this season," said Oil Kings Director of Business Operations Daniel Troiani. "Their commitment to helping families throughout the winter months is remarkable and one that our organization is proud to continue supporting.

"Giving back to the greater Edmonton community is an internal mandate of our group and participating in this initiative is unfortunately one that we know is a growing need given the current economic climate."

Donation bins will be setup inside the Ford Hall gates for fans attending the game, while there will also be donation bins setup outside the gates in Ford Hall for fans unable to attend the game, but who wish to donate.

Any fan that brings a donation item will receive a voucher for two tickets to the Oil Kings New Year's Fireworks Frenzy game on January 1 against the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Accepted donation items include: Winter coats, snow pants, toques, mitts, scarves, winter boots, and insulated work wear. All donated items must be clean and in good condition. Non-winter clothing and spring jackets will not be accepted.

There is currently an urgent need for men's winter coats, kid's winter coats, mittens and gloves.

"United Way of the Alberta Capital Region is grateful to the Edmonton Oil Kings for their continued support of this important initiative," says Rob Yager, President & CEO of United Way of the Alberta Capital Region. "As the current affordability crisis continues, we've seen an increase in demand for winter wear. This year, we're aiming to provide 9,000 coats and accessories, but we need the community's help.

"When you give a coat, you're giving so much more than that. You're giving someone a chance to experience the magic of an Alberta winter, or play outside with their friends, or to know that someone out there cares about them."

"Oil Kings fans have been incredible in their support with Coats for Kids," added Troiani. "Please bring a coat, or any winter item and receive a ticket for a future Oil Kings game on us."
