Prince George Cougars News Release

Jordan McLaughlin, goaltender for the Prince George Cougars, has become the 5th goaltender in WHL history, and 1st in Cougars franchise history, to score a goal in a game. McLaughlin, a native of Edmonton, A.B., scored an empty net goal at the 19:05 of the third period in a 4-1 win against the Giants in Vancouver on March 5.

"This is definitely a career highlight for me", said McLaughlin, who holds a 2.92 GAA this season. "Every time a team pulls their goalie, the possibility of scoring is in the back of your mind. We had a 2 goal lead and the puck was dumped perfectly into me, so I saw it as a perfect opportunity", continues the Cougar netminder.

McLaughlin joins Jason Clague (Red Deer Rebels, March 28, 1994 Playoffs vs. Lethbridge), Jeff Calvert (Tacoma Rockets, December 29, 1992 vs. Moose Jaw), Chris Osgood (Medicine Hat Tigers, January 3, 1991 vs. Swift Current), and Olaf Kolzig (Tri-City Americans, November 29, 1989 vs. Seattle) to score a goal.
