Reading Fightin Phils News Release

The Harrisburg Senators have played their best baseball of the season against the R-Phils - that trend would continue on Wednesday.

Bradley Coon ripped a game-winning RBI triple in the bottom of the ninth inning off R-Phils' reliever Michael Schwimer (2-2, 3.48), and the Harrisburg Senators continued their season-long dominance of Reading, taking the middle game of their three-game series by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday evening at Metro Bank Park in Harrisburg.

Coon, who finished the contest 2-4 with the game-winning triple, stepped to the plate in the ninth inning against Schwimer with a chance to win the game. A native of Tennessee, Coon, 27, followed Jhonatan Solano, who lined a one-out single to center, which put the go-ahead run on first base. Now, Coon, who entered play hitting just .221 on the season, roped his first triple of the season, which plated Solano for the game-winner, helping the Senators setup a chance to sweep the R-Phils for the third time this season on Thursday.

Schwimer came on in the eighth inning, and tossed a scoreless frame, but after retiring the first batter in the ninth, allowed back-to-back hits to send the R-Phils to their second-straight loss. The Virginia native allowed four hits over his 1.1 innings of work on Wednesday night.

Senators' reliever Adam Carr (4-1, 2.75) recorded the final four outs to earn his fourth win of the season. Carr was the fourth Harrisburg pitcher on the evening, third after starter Brad Meyers, who was brilliant over 5.2 scoreless innings. Meyers, 24, fanned nine batters and allowed just four hits, but did not factor in the decision.

Reading starter Yohan Flande was outstanding over 6.2 innings pitched, but he too did not factor in the decision. The Dominican native allowed just one run on five hits, lowering his ERA to an impressive 2.39 on the season.

The R-Phils (15-23) only run of the evening came off the bat of pinch hitter Tagg Bozied, who ripped an RBI double in the top of the eighth inning to tie the game at 1-1. Domonic Brown had two of Reading's seven hits on the evening and is now batting .336 on the season.

With Wednesday's victory, the Senators have now gone 8-0 against Reading this season and now have a chance to go for their third series sweep of the season on Thursday in the finale.

Taking the ball for the R-Phils will be RHP Drew Naylor (3-4, 4.57). Naylor, a member of the Philadelphia Phillies 40-man roster, has posted a 2-1 mark with a 3.38 ERA over three starts in May. In four starts on the road this season, the Australian born righty is just 1-3 with a 4.13 ERA.

The Senators (19-20) will counter with RHP Andrew Kown (NR), who will make his first start of the season for Harrisburg. Kown, a product of Georgia Tech, has appeared in eight games this season with Syracuse (AAA), and has posted 1-2 record with a 2.52 ERA. The Georgia native was originally selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 2004 First-Year Player Draft.

Brian Seltzer will have the call in Thursday's finale beginning at 10:00 a.m. with the R-Phils pre-game show on ESPN Radio 1240 AM WIOV and readingphillies.com. First pitch is set for 10:30 a.m.

Phillers... Before the game, RHP Ty Taubenheim was promoted to Lehigh Valley (AAA)... Quintin Berry stole his team-high ninth base of the season... Reading manager Steve Roadcap was ejected in the fourth inning... Reading left sox men on base.
