Cedar Rapids Kernels News Release
July 16, 2007 - The Cedar Rapids Kernels, in conjunction with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, announce that RHP Aaron Cook has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to July 15, with strep throat and will most likely have his tonsils out. Also, C Scott Knazek has been assigned to Tempe of the Arizona League and RHP Bobby Cassevah rejoins the Kernels from Orem of the Pioneer League.
This is Cook's second stint on the DL as he was placed on the DL back on June 25 with the same ailment.
Knazek was batting .250 with one RBI in nine games for the Kernels after being called up from extended spring training on June 23 when Hank Conger was placed on the DL.
Cassevah had appeared in six games for the Owlz, all in relief, and had no record and a 4.32 ERA in 8.1 innings. He will join the team in Fort Wayne and will be available for tonight's 6 pm game with the Wizards.
Today's roster moves leaves the Kernels roster at 24 active players with eight currently on the disabled list.
