Tucson Padres News Release

Anthony Contreras bounced a two-run double over the center field wall in the top of the ninth inning to break a tie and put the Padres ahead in their 7-5 win Sunday. The ninth inning rally for Tucson came one half inning after they lost a 5-3 lead to the Grizzlies. Erik Hamren allowed a leadoff double to Chris Dominguez in the bottom of the ninth but retired the next three hitters for his second Tucson save.

The Padres scored once in the first on a Matt Clark sacrifice fly and added three more in the third when Clark and Jedd Gyorko hit back-to-back RBI doubles. Fresno cut the score to 4-2 when the Padres scored another run in the sixth when Brad Penny didn't catch a throw from first baseman Conor Gillaspie, allowing Bryan Altman to score. The Grizzlies scored once in the seventh and twice in the eighth to tie the game before Contreras' double in the ninth put the Padres ahead.

The Padres are now 2-4 against Fresno (Giants affiliate) this season. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for Tucson. The Padres had nine hits Sunday and six of them were doubles.
