Constantine finalist for WHL coach of the year

The 2003-2004 U.S. Division Champion, Everett Silvertips, received a few Western Hockey League honors on Wednesday as Silvertips Head Coach, Kevin Constantine is one of two finalists for the Dunc McCallum Memorial Trophy for Coach of the Year. Constantine has guided the first year hockey club to their first U.S. Division regular season title in their first year in the WHL with a 35-27-8-2 record along with 80 points which is most by an expansion franchise in the Canadian Hockey League. The other finalist is Moose Jaw Warriors Head Coach Curtis Hunt who led the Warriors to their first division regular season title in the WHL. The winner will be announced at the Western Hockey League Awards Banquet on April 28th in Calgary, Alberta.

Silvertips goaltender Jeff Harvey also received Western Hockey League honors by being named as a 2nd Team Western Conference All-Star. The St. Albert, Alberta native finished the 2003-2004 WHL season 2nd among WHL netminders with a 1.97 Goals Against Average, tied for 2nd with a .926 Save Percentage, tied for 9th with 24 victories and tied for 6th with 5 shutouts. Harvey also received the Silvertips Team MVP for the 2003-2004 regular season.

In other news, the Silvertips will have the 13th draft selection in the 2004 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft which will be held in Calgary, Alberta on April 29th. The Prince George Cougars won the lottery and will have the number one overall pick in the 2004 WHL Bantam Draft.

The Silvertips will face off against the Spokane Chiefs in the first round of the 2004 WHL Playoffs starting on Friday, March 19th at the Everett Events Center. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. and you can get your playoff tickets now by contacting the Silvertips office at (425) 252-5100.
