Conine Hits Walk-Off Home Run To Beat Cubs

BELOIT, WI - Before the Saturday Night Fireworks, Griffin Conine had some fireworks of his own when he rocketed a two-run walk-off home run to straightaway center and gave the Snappers a 6-5 win over the South Bend Cubs.

Down 2-0 in the bottom of the third, the Snappers got an RBI single from Connor Scott to make it 2-1, South Bend. The Cubs added a pair of runs in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead. Beloit scored one in the fifth on an RBI single from Thomas Jones to cut it to a two-run game. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Beloit rattled off three straight hits and scored a pair of runs on RBI singles from Scott and Jones to tie the game.

In extra innings, South Bend scored on a sacrifice fly by Nelson Velazquez to take a 5-4 lead in the tenth. With Will Banfield on second as the placed runner, Snappers' designated hitter Conine crushed a 2-1 pitch to center field to give Beloit a 6-5 win over the Cubs.

Beloit's Top Performers: Josh Simpson threw 2 2/3 innings scoreless out of the bullpen. Ynmanol Marinez was 2-for-3 with a double.
