Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. – Kevin St. Pierre made 34 saves in his return from Injured Reserve, and the Condors received two goals apiece from Christoffer Norgren and Paul Rosebush as they defeated the Idaho Steelheads 5-0 on Wednesday night in front of 5,933 fans at Centennial Garden.

Bakersfield tickled the twine twice early, as they took a 2-0 advantage less than four minutes in. Nate Anderson scored from the left circle on the first shot of the game and a 1-0 lead during 4-on-4 play. Just 1:33 later, on the power play, Norgren cruised through the neutral zone and broke in along on Jason Cugnett, lifting home a backhander to make it 2-0 on the Condors second shot of the game. The Steelheads took over in shots through the period, eventually outshooting the Condors 14-6 in the frame, but not before surrendering another Bakersfield tally. Paul Rosebush scored his first of the night by banking a shot off Cugnett from the endboards and into the net.

The Condors managed just two shots on goal in the entire middle frame, but one of them was a power play blast from Norgren from the blueline that steered its way through traffic for the 4-0 lead. Through 40 minutes, the Steelheads were outshooting the Condors 23-8.

St. Pierre continued his stellar night in the third frame, turning aside 11 more shots, including a brilliant save on Steelheads point-leader Joe Rybar from between the circles with less than 12 minutes remaining. Rosebush pushed the score to 5-0 at 17:36, when he fought his way through the Idaho defense and slipped home his second goal of the game. The Steelheads outshot the Condors 34-14 on the night. Bakersfield jumped past idle Fresno and back into third place with the victory. In other action, the Gulls defeated Long Beach 3-1.
