Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors compiled a 2-1-0-0 week with a three-game series against the Las Vegas Wranglers last week. The action included a 4-2 win over the Wranglers on home ice Saturday night. At 6-5-0-0 with 12 points in the standings, Bakersfield is tied with Ontario for first place in the Pacific Division. The entire division is separated by just two points from top to bottom.

THIS WEEK (ALL TIMES PACIFIC):

Tuesday, Nov. 10 vs. Stockton (7 p.m.)

Friday, Nov. 13 @ Alaska (8:15 p.m.)

Saturday, Nov. 14 @ Alaska (8:15 p.m.)

WEEK IN REVIEW (Home team in CAPS):

Thursday, Nov. 5

Condors 4 vs. LAS VEGAS 1

The Condors scored three times in the second period to break a 1-1 tie and skated to a 4-1 victory in Las Vegas. RW Dan Sexton, F Andrew Ianiero, D John de Gray (right) and C MacGregor Sharp all lit the lamp for Bakersfield, while outshooting the Wranglers 40-21 in the contest. G Timo Pielmeier stopped 20 shots for the victory between the pipes.

Friday, Nov. 6

LAS VEGAS 2 vs. Condors 1

Bakersfield fell behind 2-0, surrendering a late goal in the first and an early goal in the second, and couldn't make up ground, dropping a 2-1 decision on Friday. RW Dan Sexton scored for Bakersfield in the closing minutes of the middle frame to cut into the lead, but Wranglers G Michael Ouzas made it stick, stopping 37 shots in the game.

Saturday, Nov. 7

CONDORS 4 vs. Las Vegas 2

Attendance: 5,368

RW Dan Sexton scored for the third straight game, snapping a 2-2 tie with less than five minutes remaining in regulation, and added an insurance tally as well, helping carry the Condors to a 4-2 triumph on Saturday on home ice. LW Kyle Calder scored twice as well, erasing a pair of one-goal Wranglers leads. G Timo Pielmeier stopped 28 shots in the win.

POGGE RETURNS

The Anaheim Ducks today reassigned G Justin Pogge to the Condors. Pogge, 23, has been in the National Hockey League with the Ducks since Oct. 26, when he was recalled for the second time this season. The fourth-year netminder did not appear in a game with the Ducks on his recall.

With Bakersfield, Pogge is 2-1-0 with a 2.10 goals against average and a.923 save percentage, which ranks 5th in the ECHL. He turned in a shutout on Opening Night with the Condors on Oct. 16, a 5-0 victory over the Ontario Reign.

PLAYER AND TEAM NOTES: RW Dan Sexton scored in all three games last week, including two on Saturday and had two game winning goals in the process. He leads the team with eight tallies and 16 points, is tied for 1st in the ECHL in rookie scoring and tied for 4th overall. The Condors held the Wranglers power play to just one goal on 18 opportunities in the series. At 85.5% efficiency, Bakersfield's penalty kill is ranked 6th in the ECHL. D Mark Mitera was reassigned to the Condors on Saturday and made his Bakersfield debut that night. He was a +2 on the evening. G Timo Pielmeier has lowered his goals against average to 3.02 and raised his save percentage to.888, after an inauspicious professional debut in which he surrendered seven goals on 19 shots in just 40 minutes. Since then, he has put up a 2.30 GAA and a.914 save pct. Those numbers would rank 5th (GAA) and 8th (SV%), respectively, in the ECHL. 1st place through 7th place in the National Conference is separated by just seven points in the standings. The Condors currently rank 3rd in the conference, behind Idaho and Alaska, who are 1st and 2nd in the West.
