Condors Begin Conference Semifinals Today In Alaska

April 23, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors advanced to the National Conference Semifinals by blanking the Fresno Falcons 4-0 in Game 6 last Thursday, before 6,380 at The Nest. The win extended Bakersfield's record-setting playoff winning streak to four and also marked the first postseason shutout in club history. The Condors' next round opponent is the defending Kelly Cup Champion Alaska Aces and series gets underway tonight in Anchorage.

Games 1 and 2 are tonight and Wednesday at Anchorage's Sullivan Arena, with games beginning at 8:15 p.m. (PDT). The Condors return home to host the Aces for Games 3 and 4 on Friday and Saturday. Game 3 will have a normal start time of 7 p.m., doors open at 6 p.m. Saturday will have a special start time of 8 p.m., due to an event taking place at the arena prior to the game. Doors will open at 7 p.m.

The Holiday Inn Select will be holding live viewing parties for the first two away games in Alaska at the Q Street Lounge, located at 801 Truxtun Ave. Fans will be able to watch the games live free of charge and are encouraged to come early, as seating is on a first- come-first-serve basis.

The Condors were 4-2-3 against the Aces during the regular season and picked up at least one point in every game played at Sullivan Arena. Bakersfield was 2-0-3 in Anchorage, coming from behind in each contest. The Condors were 2-2-0 against the Aces at The Nest. Of the nine regular season meetings, four were decided in either overtime or a shootout.

This marks the second time the two clubs have met in the postseason. Bakersfield and Alaska clashed in the 2005 division semifinals when the Aces took the series three games to two. The home team was victorious in every game, as Alaska won the first two games at home, before the Condors forced a decisive Game 5 with back-to-back wins at The Nest. Alaska, however, took Game 5 and advanced all the way to the National Conference Finals before falling to the eventual Kelly Cup winner Trenton Titans
