HICKORY, N.C. - The BlueClaws led 4-0 in the 2nd inning but needed a rally over the final four innings to erase a 7-5 deficit and win 8-7 over the Crawdads to work their way back into a tie atop the South Atlantic League North Division.

Lakewood scored single runs in the 6th, 8th and 9th innings to secure the win over Hickory Friday night. The game-winning run came home from third base with no outs in the 9th inning. With Gabriel Lino at the plate and runners on first and third base, Daniel Lopez threw a wild pitch to score Miguel Alvarez who began the inning with a single.

Kenny Giles collected his third win of the season with his best performance out of the bullpen. Giles did not allow a baserunner in three innings and struck out seven of the nine batters he faced. Giles has now struck out 80 batters in 63.1 innings pitched this season (11.4 K/9 IP).

The Hagerstown Suns dropped both games of their double-header against the Augusta GreenJackets so they are 1.0 game back of both Lakewood and Hickory for first place.

The BlueClaws and Crawads will play Game 3 of a four-game series Saturday evening at LP Frans Stadium. Lino Martinez (4-4, 6.25) will head to the mound for his third start for the BlueClaws since coming off the DL and will go up against Hickory's lefty Will Lamb (4-6, 4.37).

First pitch for Saturday's game is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. Listen to all the action on WOBM 1160-AM and WOBM 1310-AM beginning at 5:50 p.m. with the BlueClaws Beat pre-game show.
