Suns Suffer Doubleheader Sweep, Fifth Straight Loss

Hagerstown, MD - The Hagerstown Suns (57-40) lost both games of a doubleheader against the Augusta GreenJackets (48-48) at Municipal Stadium on Friday night. The Suns fell 10-3 in game one and then 1-0 in the nightcap.

In game one, Suns' reliever Greg Holt (2-2) suffered the loss, allowing six runs (five earned) over 2.1 innings behind starter Taylor Jordan's four-inning no-decision in his season debut. Bobby Hansen, Jr. made the start in game two and delivered six shutout innings, but Colin Bates (4-3) took the loss as the Suns offense was blanked. First baseman Brett Newsome led the Suns at the plate, going a combined 4-for-5 with a triple, RBI and two runs scored.

GreenJackets' lefty Steven Neff (3-1) earned the win in game one out of the bullpen pitching two scoreless innings after starter Bryce Bandilla went four frames in a no-decision. In game two, starter Kyle Crick pitched five shutout innings ahead of Kyle Vazquez's (3-2) scoreless sixth inning, which made him the pitcher of record. Closer Cody Hall nailed down his league leading 19th save with a perfect ninth inning.

Second baseman Jose Flores went 5-for-6 with three doubles and two RBIs in the twin-bill, while centerfielder Jose Galindo was 4-for-6, including 3-for-3 with the lone RBI in game two.

The Suns and GreenJackets will play game three of the series on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. when RHP Brian Rauh makes his season debut with Hagerstown against Augusta's LHP Adalberto Mejia (6-6, 5.55).
