Comeback Cats Claw the Paw Sox

August 16, 2007 - International League (IL1)
Ottawa Lynx News Release

Game Recap: The Lynx actually opened the scoring, putting a run on the board in the bottom of the second. Jim Rushford notched a two-out single, moving to second base when Dusty Wathan was hit by a pitch and scoring on Gookie Dawkins' RBI single. But Pawtucket came back with three runs in the top of the third, putting the Lynx in a two-run hole. Ottawa was held off the board until the bottom of the eighth, when the Lynx rally started with two outs again. Gary Burnham reached on a single, moving to second when Brennan King was hit by a pitch and then to third on a Jim Rushford single, setting the stage for Dusty Wathan's game-tying, 2-RBI single. The comeback was completed in the bottom of the ninth. After failing to cash in the winning run on multiple occasions last night, they wouldn't need extra innings tonight, as Joe Thurston drove home Gookie Dawkins to hand the Lynx a 4-3 win.
