Columbus Clippers News Release
The Chiefs broke out the bats as they slugged their way to an 8-4 win over the Clippers at Huntington Park.
The Chiefs would stake themselves to an early lead in the top of the second with a Zach Walters RBI groundout and a Carlos Rivero RBI sacrifice fly. Columbus would also get on the scoreboard in the second when Lonnie Chisenhall launched a solo homer off the scoreboard in right-center field. Chisenhall would later give the Clippers a brief lead in the bottom of the third with two run broken bat single.
The Chiefs then tied it the very next inning with a Zach Walters RBI double. Syracuse then took a 6-3 lead thanks to a Corey Brown three-run moonshot that landed on the roof of the Wendy's Hamburger Balcony in right. Chris Marrero later added a solo shot that landed in the Scott's Lawn Seats in left-center field.
Despite a Tim Fedroff RBI single in the ninth, the deficit would be too much to overcome as Columbus fell to Syracuse for the second straight night. Daniel Rosenbaum (W, 5-2) got the win for the Chiefs. Trevor Bauer (L, 2-1) took the loss for the Clippers.
Columbus will be back at it with the Chiefs on Saturday night. Syracuse will go with righty Ross Ohlendorf (3-5, 5.13) on the mound. The Clippers will counter with right-hander Danny Salazar (0-0, 0.00). First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 PM.
Saturday is Star Wars night. Dress up as your favorite character and come out and meet Yoda, Luke Skywalker, and all of your other favorite Star Wars heroes (and villains) as they roam the ballpark and participate in the in-game events. Enjoy a special fireworks display after the game, and much more.
