Toledo Mud Hens News Release
Jose Alvarez and Brandon Beachy went toe-to-toe early, but the Braves overcame a Danny Dorn home run to defeat the Hens 3-2 in Gwinnett on Friday night.
Gwinnett started the scoring off in the first when Ernesto Mejia grounded into a double play, but managed to score Jose Constanza from third to give the Braves a 1-0 lead. The Hens responded quickly in the second when Nick Castellanos scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at one a piece.
Toledo took their first lead of the game in the fourth inning when Danny Dorn connected for his ninth homer of the year, a solo shot to deep right field. Gwinnett regained the lead in the seventh after back-to-back doubles off Jose Alvarez gave the Braves a 3-2 victory.
The Mud Hens will look for their first win of the series tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. in Gwinnett. RHP Shawn Hill is scheduled to make the start for Toledo.
