Columbus Calls Up Goertzen

Syracuse, NY (December 21, 2005) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled right wing Steven Goertzen.

Goertzen, 21, has appeared in eight games with Syracuse this season, scoring 1 goal, 1 assist and 11 penalty minutes. In 23 games with Columbus, Goertzen has registered 24 penalty minutes. A native of Stony Plain, Alberta, Goertzen was selected by Columbus in the seventh round, 225th overall, in the 2002 Entry Draft.

The Crunch travel to Rochester on Thursday, December 22 for a 7:05 p.m. contest. Crunch action can be heard with play-by-play announcer Bob McElligott on SportsRadio 620 WHEN or through B2 Networks on the Crunch's website at www.syracusecrunch.com. On Friday, December 23, Syracuse hosts Albany for a 7:30 p.m. match-up.
