December 21, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI-This was one of those games that a team just needs to forget about. The Milwaukee Admirals surrendered three first period goals and fell to the Grand Rapids Griffins 5-0 at the Bradley Center on Tuesday night.

Grand Rapids dominated play right from the start of the game, getting first period tallies by Clay Wilson, Eric Himelfarb, and Valtteri Pilppula to take a 3-0 lead into the locker room after 20 minutes of play.

Admirals coach Claude Noel put Brian Finley in goal to start the second period in place of Pekka Rinne, but Finley did not fair much better as Grand Rapids stretched their lead to five with another goal by Wilson and one by Darryl Bootland.

The third period saw the Admirals increase their pressure on Griffin goaltender Jimmy Howard, but they were unable to find the back of net. The shutout was Grand Rapids first blanking of the year. It also marked the third time that the Ads have failed to light the lamp at home this season, their only three loses at the Bradley Center this year.

The Admirals travel to Iowa for a game with the Stars on Friday, December 23 at 7 pm. Their next home game will be on Monday, December 26 at 7 pm when they play host to the Chicago Wolves. The team will wear retro jerseys from their 1975-76 USHL Championship team and the first 5,000 fans will receive a travel mug courtesy of Gonzalez, Saggio, and Harlen. For tickets, fans can call Ticketmaster at (414) 276-4545 or log on to www.milwaukeeadmirals.com and click on the tickets button.
