Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release

Fort Wayne, IN - The San Diego Padres organization has announced that Wizards catcher Colt Morton has been activated from the disabled list, effective immediately. Morton has been on the disabled list since July 8 with a strained left hamstring injury suffered against the Cedar Rapids Kernels on July 7.

Morton, prior to his injury, was hitting .266 with 10 home runs, 46 runs batted in, 34 walks and 26 runs scored. Morton was the third round selection by the Padres organization in the 2003 June Amateur Draft. He was also selected to the Midwest League All-Star game this season and has appeared with the Wizards for parts of three seasons, including 2003 and 2004.

With Morton's activation from the disabled list, the Wizards roster now stands at 25 active players with right-hander Vern Sterry and infielder Peter Ciofrone still on the disabled list.

This marks the second roster announcement for the Wizards on Monday.
