Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

Colorado Springs second baseman Tyler Saladino slapped a go-ahead two-run single in the seventh inning after Storm Chasers center fielder Donnie Dewees and first baseman Frank Schwindel homered in a 4-3 Sky Sox victory over Omaha on Tuesday night at Werner Park.

Dewees left the yard with a towering blast to right, pushing the Storm Chasers ahead 2-0 in the second. Colorado Springs, however, immediately answered right back with a two-spot in the third. Schwindel then smashed his team-leading 24th big fly of the year, a solo shot off the left field foul pole in the fifth to put Omaha back up 3-2. The Sky Sox would answer yet again, though, courtesy of Saladino's two-run knock in the seventh.

Dewees (2-4, R, HR, 2 RBI), Schwindel (2-4, R, HR, RBI), LF Brian Goodwin (2-5) and 2B Humberto Arteaga (2-4, R) each posted two hits for Omaha, with Saladino (2-4, 3B, 2 RBI, BB) and DH Christian Bethancourt (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI) recording two knocks apiece. Storm Chasers SS Nicky Lopez was held without a hit in three at-bats, snapping his 12-game hit streak. During that stretch he compiled a .400 average (16-40).

Storm Chasers starter Jake Kalish (6.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 7 K) did not factor in the decision despite his second straight quality outing, yielding two earned runs while fanning seven in six innings pitched. Sky Sox reliever Tristan Archer (2.0 IP, H, 3 K) earned the win with two shutout innings in support of starter Alec Asher (5.0 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K), with Jake Thompson (2.0 IP, 2 H, 2 K) notching a two-inning save and Omaha southpaw Richard Lovelady (2.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, BB, 2 K) suffering the defeat.

The two teams are set to play a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon, with first pitch of game one scheduled for 5:05 p.m. CT. Both contests are scheduled for seven innings. Omaha starting pitcher for the opener is to be determined, while Colorado Springs is anticipated to send RHP Brandon Woodruff (3-2, 4.02) to the hill. RHP Trevor Oaks (8-7, 2.82) is expected to toe the rubber for Omaha in the nightcap and be opposed by RHP Bubba Derby (5-5, 4.78).

Tickets are still available for all remaining 2018 Storm Chasers contests, and may be purchased at www.omahastormchasers.com/tickets as well as by calling the Werner Park Ticket Office at (402) 738-5100.
