LAST WEEK IN REVIEW

Wednesday, February 27; Bulls Take Back & Forth Battle, 5-4, in Shootout

LOVELAND, Colo. - The San Francisco Bulls defeated the Colorado Eagles, 5-4, in a back-and-forth game that took a shootout to decide. For the short-benched Eagles (playing with just 13 skaters), the overtime loss gave them a point in each game of the completed four-game home stand in which they earned six of eight possible points, before they take off on a seven-game road trip.

Thursday, February 28; Eagles Sign Defenseman Dean Moore

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles of the ECHL announced today that they've signed defenseman Dean Moore who last played for the defending Kelly Cup champion Florida Everblades. A native of Bradenton, Fla., Moore has played 93 professional games between the Southern Professional Hockey League & the ECHL. All 19 of his points as a pro (4-15-19) came in 82 games in the SPHL.

Friday, March 1; Eagles Powerless Against Pacific-Leading Reign

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign doubled up the Colorado Eagles, 4-2, as the latter began a seven-game road trip. After going 4-for-9 on the power play against the Reign in a win here less than two weeks ago, the Eagles' top-ranked power play went 0-for-5 and failed to convert on a pair of two-man advantages.

Saturday, March 2; Eagles Overcome Early Deficit for 5-3 Win Against Wranglers

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Colorado Eagles scored five straight goals to overcame an early 2-0 deficit in a 5-3 win against the Las Vegas Wranglers in the second game of a seven-game road trip. Adam Brown made 39 saves, and Colorado's penalty kill went 7-for-7 to help the team to a victory that pulled them within two points of the Wranglers in the Western Conference standings, while also putting them a pair of points away from their 10th playoff berth in as many seasons.

Sunday, March 3; Eagles Earn 10th Playoff Berth in as Many Seasons; Team asks fans to "Be The Advantage" as part of playoff theme.

LOVELAND, Colo. - By losing in regulation this evening in Alaska, the Bakersfield Condors helped the Colorado Eagles secure a spot in the ECHL's upcoming Kelly Cup playoffs. It marks the 10th time in the club's 10 seasons of existence that the Eagles have earned a playoff berth. They are the 6th team in the 23-team league to qualify for the postseason, which starts in April. Information on playoff ticket sales will be available in the coming days on www.ColoradoEagles.com .

As part of the team's playoff marketing theme, it's asking its fans to "Be The Advantage," a nod to the record-setting support the team has received from its fans at the Budweiser Events Center, where it has experienced incredible success over the past decade. In addition to holding the minor pro hockey record for consecutive sellouts, the Eagles have an all-time regular season record of 231-70-20 -- a .751 winning percentage -- at their home rink.

THE WEEK AHEAD

Tuesday, March 5 & Wednesday, March 6; Eagles Say "Hello, Goodbye" to Idaho

In the midst of their busiest road trip of the season, the Eagles will kick-off a five-games-in-six-days stretch with a pair against the Idaho Steelheads. Entering the week, Colorado trails Idaho by 20 points in the Mountain Division, while the Steelheads trail the Alaska Aces by another 11 for the division title. The Eagles and Steelheads haven't met since Dec. 1, so much has changed since the early part of the season when Colorado compiled a 0-5-1 record against Idaho.

Friday, March 8, Saturday, March 9 & Sunday, March 10; Colorado Closes-out Busy Road Trip Against Grizzlies

After taking five of a possible six points from Utah in a three-games-in-less-than-three-days set at the Budweiser Events Center just over a week ago, the Eagles will look for similar success in a similar format when they close out their road trip in Utah this weekend. Colorado has a record of 5-0-2 so far this season against the Grizzlies, and enters the week with a seven-point lead over its closest rival. The Eagles have out-scored the Grizzlies, 36-14, this season, but lost the lone game played in Utah, 4-3, in a shootout.

NOTABLE NUMBERS

BUSY ROAD TRIP - Colorado is in the midst of its busiest road trip of the season, in which they'll play seven games over a span of 10 days, in four different cities! After playing in Ontario and Las Vegas last weekend, the Eagles will play a pair in Idaho before a three-games-in-less-than-three-days set this weekend in Utah.

MAKING THEM COUNT - Shots are tallied differently from arena to arena, but the Eagles' efficiency in Saturday night's was impressive regardless of venue. Colorado was credited with scoring five goals on just 18 shots for a shooting percentage of nearly 30%! Those 18 shots (half of which came off the sticks of Kyle Ostrow & A.J. Hau) not only set a season low, but were one off the team's all-time record for fewest shots in a game. The win was a statistical oddity in another way as well: it marked just the 7th time this season the Eagles have won when being out-shot -- the lowest mark in the ECHL.

STRUEBY DO - Through his first 11 games with the Eagles, Matt Strueby 's only contribution to the box score was a total of eight shots and four penalty minutes, but since, the rookie forward is riding a three-game point streak that saw him record his first professional goal in Saturday's win in Las Vegas. During the past three games, Strueby has seven shots and no PIMs.

MAKING A LATE PUSH - No player on the Eagles is hotter than Michael Forney . The Eagles' leading point-producer is riding a seven-game point streak -- the longest on the team -- scoring a goal in all but one of the contests. The surge has pushed him into a 4th place tie in the league points race, as well as a 3rd place tie among the league's leading goal scorers. With the Eagles having games in hand on nearly every team in the league, both titles are within Forney's reach.

TICKET TO THE DANCE - It's March, and the Colorado Eagles have once again been invited to participate in the postseason. Colorado has earned a playoff berth for the 10th time in as many seasons, becoming the 6th team in the 23-team ECHL to qualify by virtue of Bakersfield being blanked in Alaska on Sunday.

PLAYOFF POSITIONING - With three weeks left in the regular season, Colorado sits in 6th place in the Western Conference, but they're well within striking distance of the 4th seed and the home ice advantage that would come with it. The Eagles trail the Las Vegas Wranglers by four points with a game in hand, and the Stockton Thunder by eight points with four games in hand.

LOOKING FOR MORE - The Eagles and Steelheads faced-off six times during the first month and a half of the season, with Colorado claiming just a single point from the meetings. They'll be looking to improve on that 0-5-1 record in a place they've had success in the past. Despite an 0-3-3 mark in Idaho this season, the Eagles went 2-0-1 there last year. Colorado is 6-6-2 against Idaho all-time.

TALK ABOUT TURNOVER - The Eagles and Steelheads will renew acquaintances again this week after last meeting way back on Dec. 1, and in that time, plenty has changed for both clubs. Only nine of the Eagles' skaters who played in that previous meetings will play in this week's set of games, while just three of the skaters currently on Idaho's roster were in the lineup the last time the teams met.
