Colombian Community of Dallas/Ft. Worth Formally Welcomes Fabian Castillo

FRISCO, Texas (April 4, 2011) ‚¬" FC Dallas, the Asociación Colombiana del Metroplex, Clusodecol, Club Deportivo Dallas and a group of Colombian professionals and businesses of North Texas will formally welcome forward Fabian Castillo to the DFW Metroplex on Wednesday, April 6 at 7 p.m. with a reception at the Holiday Inn Express on U.S. Highway 75 in Plano, Texas.

A connection established through FC Dallas Reserve coach and former player Oscar Pareja and continued by former stars Leonel Alvarez and Juan Toja, the defending Western Conference Champions currently enjoy one of the strongest contingents of Colombians in Major League Soccer. Intended to advance FC Dallas ‚¬â„¢ ties with the 25,000 members of the Colombian community living in Dallas/Ft. Worth, Wednesday ‚¬â„¢s reception will introduce the 18-year-old star to his fellow countrymen in the local community. Fellow Colombians and teammates Milton Rodriguez, Jair Benitez, and 2010 MLS MVP David Ferreira will join Castillo and Pareja at the reception.

Spearheaded by Luis Lara, president of the Asociación Colombiana del Metroplex, the community outreach initiative will host more than 130 members of the community and media. Looking to create a home-away-from-home atmosphere for Castillo, Ferreira, Benitez and Rodriguez, the Colombian community of Dallas is poised to create its own FC Dallas supporters group: FC (From Colombia).
