College Park Skyhawks and Georgia Natural Gas Unveil Opening Weekend Theme Uniforms

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. - The College Park Skyhawks, the NBA G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks, and Georgia Natural Gas (GNG), today debuted theme uniforms for 'Opening Weekend presented by Georgia Natural Gas' on Nov. 18 and 19. The numbers and sides of the uniforms have a special flame gradient and prominently feature logos from GNG and Hosea Helps, a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to help combat food insecurity. These theme uniforms mark the first time in franchise history that the Skyhawks will wear theme uniforms during home opening weekend.

"The jerseys, the home opening weekend, the food drive, and more all show a serious investment and collaboration between the Hawks/Skyhawks and GNG, and this is just the beginning," said Atlanta Hawks Vice President of NBA G League and 2K League Operations Janice Koon. "It is going to be an amazing weekend for our fans, and we are so excited to work with Georgia Natural Gas to heat up the Southside!"

As part of the opening weekend games, fans are invited and encouraged to donate canned items to containers that will be placed at all Gateway Center Arena gates, which will be used to stock the Hosea Helps pantry for Thanksgiving. Specific items needed include canned green beans, canned corn, canned yams, and bottled water.

"Georgia Natural Gas knows how important it is to serve the communities where we work," said Aimee Henderson, Director of Marketing for Georgia Natural Gas. "We're proud to partner with the Skyhawks to help our neighbors, especially as we enter the holiday season. As a special thank you we're giving the first 250 fans who contribute to the food drive a voucher redeemable for a pair of free tickets to an upcoming Skyhawks game."

Since 1971, Hosea Helps has provided financial resources, volunteer support, and products for families at risk of slipping into poverty. Based in College Park, Hosea Helps has served more than 10,000 children and delivered more than 10,000 produce packages already in 2023.

The games this weekend against Capital City Go-Go will take place at the Gateway Center Arena at College Park. Saturday's game marks the first home game of the season and will tip off at 6 p.m. Sunday's game, which is set for 2 p.m. tipoff, will be the first "Kids Day" game of the season, with every Sunday game set to celebrate kids and feature kid-focused programming.

The Skyhawks opened the 2023-24 season with a 118-101 victory in Toronto over Raptors 905 on Sunday. The two teams will clash again tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET. The Skyhawks recently announced their full 24-game home schedule for the 2023-24 season. Led by first-year Head Coach Ryan Schmidt, the team enters its fourth season in College Park. Last month, the Atlanta Hawks, State Farm Arena, College Park Skyhawks and Georgia Natural Gas announced a multi-year partnership that designated Georgia Natural Gas as the official natural gas provider of the Hawks and State Farm Arena.
