Cody Smuk Joins Warriors

Moose Jaw, SK: The Moose Jaw Warriors have acquired 19 year old right winger Cody Smuk and a 5th round pick in the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft from the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for 18 year old netminder Todd Mathews and the Warriors 6th round pick in the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft. The 6'0, 195lbs native of Saskatoon, SK began his WHL career with the Chilliwack Bruins during their inaugural season in 2006-07, tallying 9 goals and 21 assists. Smuk joined the Hurricanes during the prior to the 2008-09 season and accumulated 3 goals and an assist this season for Hurricanes.

"We are very excited to add a high energy player to our lineup which Cody is. He not only will provide energy to our lineup he will provide grit and experience", commented General Manager Chad Lang.

Netminder Todd Mathews had been with the Tribe since the start of the 2007-08 season and was recently reassigned to the Notre Dame Hounds of the SJHL. The Warriors thank Todd for his contributions to the Warriors organization and wish him the best of luck as he re-enters the WHL.
