Lexington Legends News Release

It was a case of missed opportunities for Lexington on Sunday afternoon. The Legends stranded nine runners including three after a Mitch Einertson strikeout to end the game in a 5-3, 12-inning, loss to Delmarva.

The Legends centerfielder continues to slump. Einertson's 0-6 performance runs his hitless streak to 0-15 on the season. The Legends managed just eight hits to drop their team average to .230 on the year.

Jonny Ash was the bright spot offensively. The Legends infielder had two hits in five plate appearances with a run scored. Hunter Pence made his '05 debut on Sunday as well. The outfielder had a single, a run and a stolen base in four at bats.

The Legends pitching continues to be dependable. Jimmy Barthmaier was outstanding in five innings, allowing just a double and two walks. Barthmaier also recorded two strikeouts. Chad Reineke recorded the loss after surrendering two runs on two hits in one inning.

Casey Cahill picked up his first win of the year with 2.2 scoreless innings for the Shorebirds. Josh Potter got the save after striking out Einertson.

The Legends welcome West Virginia to Applebee's Park on Monday night for the first game of a three game series. Lexington's Ryan McKeller will square off against Josh Baker. The first pitch is set for 7:05pm; the Progressive Direct pre-game show begins at 6:50 on the Legends Radio Network.

Tickets are still available at the Applebee's Park box office. For more information, call 859-422-RUNS (7867).
