BlueClaws shutdown by Captains

Lakewood, N.J. - The Lakewood BlueClaws (1-3) were shutout 5-0 by the Lake County Captains (3-1) Sunday afternoon at FirstEnergy Park. The Captains Fernando Pacheco led the way by going 3-for-4 with three RBI's.

The Captains scored in the fourth when second baseman Marshall Szabo connected for an RBI single scoring Mike Butia from third to give Lake County a 1-0 lead. The Captains would score again when Wyatt Toregas would score on Anthony Lunetta's sacrifice fly.

The BlueClaws starter Kyle Kendrick (0-1) recorded the loss by allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out one over the course of five innings. The Captains right-hander Kyle Kendrick (1-0) pitched six strong innings allowing just three base hits while striking out five.

The BlueClaws Jason Drobiak went 2-for-4 in the game and Greg Golson was 1-for-4. The Captains pitching staff combined to strike out 13 BlueClaws batters.

The BlueClaws begin their first road trip of the year with three games against their arch rival, the Hagerstown Suns, affiliate of the Mets. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 P.M. with on air time at 6:20 P.M.

This season, the Lakewood BlueClaws are celebrating their fifth anniversary of providing great fun in the Jersey sun. Among the other great promotions this year, fireworks after every Friday night home game sponsored by Toyota World / Scion World of Lakewood. In addition, the BlueClaws will host games against affiliates of the New York Yankees and Mets.
