Clippers End Warriors' Undefeated Run
November 27, 2018 - NBA G League (G League)
Ontario Clippers News Release
ONTARIO, Calif. - The Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario (4-4) won their third in a row on Monday night as they handed the Santa Cruz Warriors (8-1) their first loss of the season, 103-84.
Santa Cruz got off to a hot start, taking a quick 11-5 lead with a Darius Morris fadeaway at the 7:13 mark in the first quarter. However, the Clippers would never trail again, as they responded with a 24-10 run to finish the quarter. A fast-break layup by two-way player Johnathan Motley with 0.4 seconds left capped off the run, giving Agua Caliente a 29-21 lead.
Motley, on the day he was named G League Player of the Week, finished with a game-high 24 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season.
Fellow two-way player Angel Delgado narrowly missed his third straight 20 rebound game, as he finished with 19 boards. He would also score 15 points, giving him his sixth double-double this season.
The Warriors, who are top-10 in the G League in field-goal percentage, had an uncharacteristically poor shooting night, taking 34 more shots than the Clippers but making two fewer. They would finish the game shooting a season-low 31.7 from the field. Only Wisconsin has shot a lower percentage in a game this season. Kendrick Nunn would lead the Warriors off the bench with 24 points on 10-of-29 shooting from the field.
The game was heavily officiated, as a combined 54 personal fouls were called. Three players were also called for technical fouls, including two in a row against the Warriors' Darius Morris, who was disqualified in the closing seconds of the game.
The Clippers will head east for the first time this season to face-off against the Canton Charge on Wednesday night, marking the first meeting between the two franchises. The game will be played at the Canton Memorial Civic Center in Canton, Ohio. Tip-off is set at 4 p.m. Pacific Time.
