LANCASTER, Pa.-To honor the memory of those lost on September 11, 2001 and pay tribute to the 10th anniversary of that tragic day, Fred F. Groff, Inc., and Clipper Magazine Stadium have partnered to bring the city of Lancaster "Never Forget 9-11...The Spirit of America" on Sunday, September 11.
This free memorial will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a Fallen Firefighters National Stair Climb, when firefighters will walk 110 flights of stairs in full gear to represent those who died in New York.
The day-long commemorative event will feature music by military bands, local performers and singing groups, tribute videos, children's activities and keynote speakers. Bands including the Millersville University Marching Band, the Washington Pipe Band and the Third U.S. Infantry Regimental (The Old Guard) Fife and Drum Corps will perform throughout the day.
"We are proud to host this special memorial. This event gives us a terrific opportunity to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in 9-11, as well as celebrate America," said Barnstormers General Manager Vince Bulik.
Culminating in a service at 2:00 p.m., the memorial will also include the "Global Sing for Peace," with a performance by the Highland Presbyterian Church choir and a flag presentation by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard. Families who have experienced losses during 9-11 and the subsequent war will receive American flags in their honor.
The Lancaster Barnstormers are currently in their seventh season as a member of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. Home games are played at Clipper Magazine Stadium in downtown Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Please call 717.509.HITS (4487) or visit LancasterBarnstormers.com for more information.
