Lancaster Stormers News Release

Lancaster's win at Campbell's Field on Wednesday evening can be summed up in a pair of fours.

The Barnstormers infield turned four double plays. Camden's made four errors.

As a result, the Barnstormers withstood being outhit, 17-7, in a 7-5 win over the host Riversharks.

For Lancaster, it ended a four-game losing streak. Meanwhile, Camden dropped its sixth in a row.

The Barnstormers built a six-run second inning off two errors and a walk. First baseman Willis Otanez mishandled a pop up by Fernando Seguignol, and Terry Tiffee walked. Wilkin De La Rosa struck out Travis Metcalf for the first out before Brandon Jones grounder to the right of Juan Francia was bobbled for an error to load the bases.

Lancaster took advantage of the opportunity. Iggy Suarez singled home one run with a grounder into left. Matt Tupman made it 2-0 lining a two-strike pitch into right field. De La Rosa walked Wayne Lydon to force home a third run. A sacrifice fly by Matt Watson into the right field corner produced Lancaster's fourth tally. Tommy Everidge followed with a liner to left that sailed over Brian Burgamy for a two-run double, giving the Barnstormers a 6-0 edge.

Alvin Colina slammed a long homer down the left field line in the bottom of the second to whittle the first run off the lead.

Worse things were in store for J.D. Durbin (8-2) in the third. Singles by Juan Francia, Lloyd Turner and Noah Hall loaded the bases with nobody out. Francia came across as Otanez bounded into a 4-6-3 double play, the first of the quartet. Colina drilled a single into center to score Turner to cut the lead to 6-3. Danny Richar creamed a triple into right center as the Riversharks pulled within two.

Lancaster stretched the lead to 7-4 in the top of the fourth. Iggy Suarez picked up a leadoff walk. With one out, Lydon poked a grounder at Francia. He forced Suarez at second, but Turner's relay throw to first skipped down the dugout steps, giving Lydon second. Watson cracked a double into left center to plate the run.

Durbin survived a scare in the sisth when Watson made a stumbling catch on Turner's bases loaded deep fly ball to the warning track in left. Double plays in the seventh and eighth aided Justin Segal and T.J. Beam work through a pair of singles apiece.

The fourth double play may have been the biggest. Following singles by Turner and Noah Hall, Otanez blistered a one-hopper into the hole at short. Suarez made a wheeling backhanded stab to start the double play.

Jonah Bayliss, who is not 16-for-16 in save opportunities, allowed the fourth hit of the night by Colina, a single to right, scoring Turner. Suarez finished off the night with a leaping catch of a liner by Richar.

The Barnstormers and Riversharks meet again on Thursday at 7:05. Lancaster will send John Halama (5-5) to the mound against right-hander Humberto Sanchez (1-1). The game will be aired on Fox Sports Radio, 1490, WLPA and streamed live on sportsjuice.com.
