Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

ASHEVILLE, NC - Coco Montes' three-run triple in the fifth put Asheville on top and they went on to top the BlueClaws 5-2 on Tuesday night at McCormick Field.

Asheville (25-20/54-61) and Lakewood (19-24/48-65) split their four-game series and the BlueClaws went 3-4 on their seven game road trip down south.

The BlueClaws opened the scoring in the third inning on an RBI double by Jonathan Guzman to put the BlueClaws up 1-0. The hit extended Guzman's hitting streak to eight games.

Juan Aparicio went deep in the top of the fifth, his first home run in his fifth game with Lakewood. The 19 year old hit .374 before joining the BlueClaws last Tuesday.

The Tourists, however, responded in the bottom of the fifth on a two-out, three-run triple from Coco Montes down the right field line to take a 3-2 lead. Those would be the only three runs allowed by Manuel Silva (4-5) over his 4.2 innings of work and took the loss.

Ethan Lindow got the last out of the fifth, but surrendered back to back home runs to start the seventh to Niko Decolati and Kyle Datres. Those were the first two home runs allowed by Lindow since May 30th and just the third and fourth he's allowed in over 90 innings thus far this season.

PJ Poulin threw a scoreless ninth for his eighth save and to preserve the win for starter Jake Bird. Bird (7-1) gave up two runs over a career-long six innings of work.

Yerwin Trejo had two hits in the loss for Lakewood.

The BlueClaws head home on Thursday to open a series with West Virginia. RHP Tom Suterastarts the series opener for the BlueClaws.
