CHARLESTON, WV - After scoring just two runs in each other their last three games, the BlueClaws offense erupted for three in the first inning Friday night in a 5-1 win over the West Virginia Power (Pirates).

The loss snapped a five game winning streak for the Power (19-22).

The BlueClaws (25-15) put three runs on the board in the first and never looked back. Jiwan James and Leandro Castro singled to start the game, and one out and a double steal later Sebastian Valle hit a sacrifice fly to open the scoring.

A Michael Dabbs RBI single extended the lead, and Keoni Ruth added a base hit to pick up his first RBI as a BlueClaw and make it a 3-0 game.

The Claws had been 0-for their last-18 with runners in scoring position prior to Dabb's base knock.

West Virginia starter Quinton Miller (2-2) retired the next 13 Claws he faced in a row after the Ruth single, but Brody Colvin (6-7) matched Miller's strong performance. Colvin scattered just two hits through five shutout innings, striking out six.

Miller ran into trouble in the sixth. Jonathan Singleton doubled with no outs, and Valle brought the first baseman home with a double of his own.

An Alan Schoenberger solo shot in the seventh pushed the lead to five. West Virginia tallied their only run in the ninth off Ebelin Lugo to avoid the shutout on an Aaron Baker RBI single.

Saturday at 7:05 pm RHP Trevor May (4-1, 2.57) goes up against Power RHP Jason Erickson (6-5, 3.87).
