Christmas in July Returns to Canal Park

AKRON, OH - The Akron Aeros are pleased to announce the return of the second-annual Christmas in July event, a promotion that benefits the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and the Salvation Army of Greater Akron. All fans that bring five (5) non-perishable food items or a gently used winter coat (preferably a child's size) for donation will receive free tickets to the Aeros game on Tuesday, July 27th against the Bowie Baysox. That game begins at 7:05 p.m. at Canal Park and will feature many Christmas themed activities.

The "super six" of non-perishable food items include boxed cereal, peanut butter, canned tuna, canned vegetables, canned beef stew and canned soup. Fans can exchange five of these items or any other non-perishables for one ticket to the Two for Tuesday contest, while exchanging a gently used winter coat will earn you two tickets to the game.

"We are very excited to be able to assist two wonderful community partners that do so much for the city of Akron and the surrounding areas," said Calvin Funkhouser, Director of Corporate & Suite Sales for the Aeros. "The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and the Salvation Army are two organizations that are dedicated to this community year round and it's great that we can put them in the public eye when many people aren't thinking about those less fortunate."

All food donations that night will benefit the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and the coat donations will go towards the Salvation Army of Greater Akron. Both organizations will be on hand to greet fans including traditional bell ringers and in addition, there will be seven different Santa's at Canal Park, courtesy of the Buckeye Santas organization.

Tuesday the 27th is also Akron Racers night as many of the country's best pro fast-pitch softball players will be signing autographs throughout the evening at the stadium.

Fans can exchange for tickets from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on non-game days Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. On game days, walk-up ticket sales are open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and reopen at 5 p.m. until the end of the game. On Sundays, the ticket sales are only available from 11:30 a.m. until the end of the game.

Akron's current home stand continues Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. against the Altoona Curve. Just like next week at Canal Park, fans can enjoy Two for Tuesday specials on hot dogs, soft drinks, popcorn and ice cream while also utilizing a KRAFT Singles buy one ticket, get one free offer. Aeros left-hander Kelvin De La Cruz (2-5, 5.28 ERA) aims for a second straight victory against Altoona's Jared Hughes (10-6, 4.46 ERA).
