Bowie Blasts Cripple B-Mets, 10-5

Bowie smashed five homers and Mike Antonini gave up a season-high eight runs over 3 2/3 innings in Binghamton's 10-5 loss at Prince George's Stadium Tuesday night. Antonini was harassed for 10 hits, three of which left the yard, and took the loss in his worst start of the season. The B-Mets have now dropped three straight games.

Binghamton (50-47) got to Baysox starter Steve Johnson in the second. The right-hander gave up an infield single to Sean Ratliff and proceeded to walk the next two to load the bases with nobody out. Johnson then got the next two hitters before running into Jose Coronado, who slapped a double down the line in left, plating two runs to make it 2-0 B-Mets.

Bowie (52-45) answered in the third. Antonini walked Greg Miclat to start the stanza. Carlos Rojas followed and laced the first pitch he saw from the left-hander out of the park to left for a two-run homer, his first of the season, tying the score. It was just the third home run of his 10-year professional career.

The Baysox knocked Antonini from the game in the fourth with a massive two-out rally. Miclat doubled with one out. With two outs, Major League rehabber Brian Roberts doubled to right, chasing home Miclat to vault Bowie into the lead 3-2. Ryan Adams duplicated the feat with an RBI double over the head of Ratliff in left, plating Roberts. Then, Tyler Henson singled home Adams with a broken-bat knock to center, making it 5-2. Joel Guzman followed and smashed a two-run blast to center, his Eastern League-leading 20th homer, upping the lead to five. Joe Mahoney chased Antonini from the game, going back-to-back with Guzman, with a solo homer to right.

Dylan Owen replaced the starter and promptly gave up a third consecutive homer as Brandon Waring lofted a flyball over the wall in right for his 17thof the season, advancing the lead to 9-2. In all, seven straight reached with two outs, resulting in seven runs on eight hits.

Johnson exited to the win after the sixth inning. The Maryland native allowed two unearned runs on four hits and struck out a season-high 10 to pick up his fourth win of the season.

Mahoney jacked his second homer of the game in the sixth, a solo bomb off Owen, to give the Baysox their 10th run.

The B-Mets made some noise in the late innings. Josh Satin doubled off reliever Sean Gleason in the eighth and was immediately driven home by Marshall Hubbard, who lined a single off the wall in left, cutting the deficit to seven. Binghamton would add two more in the ninth off Jose Diaz to provide the final tally of 10-5.

The B-Mets look to salvage the final game of the three-game set Thursday morning at 11:05 AM. LHP Robert Carson (0-1, 9.00) will make his second Double-A start against RHP Chorye Spoone (6-5, 3.69) of Bowie.
