The International League today announced that Norfolk pitcher CHRIS JONES has been named the league's Pitcher of the Week. It is the second Pitcher of the Week award for Jones, who also earned the honor on June 15.

In two starts this week, Jones went 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA (2 ER, 15.0 IP), 10 hits, 0 walks and seven strikeouts. He earned a win vs. Durham on August 10 at Harbor Park, allowing two runs on eight hits over seven innings of Norfolk's 6-3 victory. He followed that up by firing a career-high eight shutout innings in a win at Louisville on August 15, allowing just two hits while striking out four in the 1-0 win.

In 26 games (18 starts) for the Tides this season, Jones is 8-6 with a 2.85 ERA. The 26-year-old southpaw's 2.85 ERA ranks fifth in the International League and fourth among Orioles minor leaguers. Jones leads Norfolk with 11 Quality Starts and his eight victories are tied with Mike Wright and Eddie Gamboa for the team lead.

Rochester outfielder Byron Buxton was named the league's Batter of the Week.

The Tides open a seven-game homestand on Wednesday, August 19 with a 7:05 contest vs. the Columbus Clippers. Norfolk (70-51) currently leads the International League South division by 5.5 games over the Gwinnett Braves.
