Buxton Named Batavia Downs Player of the Week

Rochester Red Wings outfielder Byron Buxton has been named the Batavia Downs Gaming and Racetrack Player of the Week for the period of Aug. 10-16. He was also named the International League Batter of the Week for the same period.

For the week, Buxton batted .400 (14-for-35) with 7 runs scored, a homer and 4 RBI. He joined the Wings August 7 on a rehab assignment, then was optioned to Rochester on August 10. He has at least one hit in each of the 11 games he's played for the Red Wings.
