Chivas USA's Gerson Mayén and Chukwudi Chijindu Loaned to Miami FC

CARSON, Calif. (Friday, August 6, 2010) - Chivas USA announced today that midfielder Gerson Mayén and forward Chukwudi Chijindu will join Miami FC of the USSF Division 2 Pro League on loan. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.

"These moves allow Gerson and Chukwudi to get first-team matches at a high level, and that experience will help them going forward," said Chivas USA Head Coach Martín Vásquez. "We wish them luck and we'll be keeping a close eye on their performance."

Mayén, a Los Angeles native and a Chivas USA Youth Academy product, signed with Red-and-White on March 27, 2008 and made his MLS debut in the second game of the 2009 season, a match in which he also earned his first assist. Mayén played 12 matches in 2009 and had played four games (two starts) in 2010 for the Red-and-White.

Chijindu, a Fontana native, signed with Chivas USA on April 3, 2009, and made his MLS debut in the April 11 Honda Super Clásico against the LA Galaxy, scoring his first goal a week later against Seattle Sounders FC. In 2010, Chijindu had played 12 games (two starts) with the Red-and-White, scoring one goal.

Chivas USA travels to face Toronto FC this Saturday, August 7, in a match that will be broadcast live on Prime Ticket, TeleFutura, and W Radio 690 AM at 1:00 p.m. PT. The Red-and-White will then return to Los Angeles ahead of a crucial Western Conference matchup against the Seattle Sounders on Saturday, August 14, at 8:00 p.m. PT.
