Chihuahuas Win 8-6 on Independence Day

July 4, 2015 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
El Paso Chihuahuas News Release

The El Paso Chihuahuas scored in the first five innings of their 8-6 win over the Salt Lake Bees Saturday night. It was the second consecutive Independence Day win in Salt Lake for the Chihuahuas, who defeated the Bees 5-1 on July 4, 2014.

Rocky Gale hit a solo home run onto the left field grass seating in the top of the first. It was Gale's first homer in 193 career Triple-A games and his first longball since a game-ending shot for Double-A San Antonio in 2013.

The Chihuahuas took a 3-0 lead in the second on Abraham Almonte's RBI single and Gale's sacrifice fly. After Salt Lake got within one, the Chihuahuas scored two runs on a bizarre ball four wild pitch in the top of the third. The play included two throwing errors and batter Casey McElroy reaching third base after his walk.

Salt Lake put two baserunners on with no outs in the ninth inning but Nick Vincent retired three batters in a row to collect his first Chihuahuas save. Alex Dickerson went 3-for-5 with three extra base hits and an RBI in the win for El Paso.
