Tacoma Rainiers News Release
TACOMA, Wash. - The Tacoma Rainiers mashed 16 hits, including eight that went for extra bases, on the way to a 12-7 victory over the Las Vegas 51s on Friday night at Cheney Stadium.
Stefen Romero, Patrick Kivlehan, and Leury Bonilla all recorded three hits for the Rainiers, while Leon Landry, Jesus Montero, and Steve Baron all checked in with a pair of base knocks. In total, seven of the nine members of the Tacoma starting lineup posted a hit, eight scored a run, and six drove in at least one RBI.
Las Vegas jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after drawing a bases-loaded hit by pitch in the second inning and an RBI single from Matt Reynolds in the third inning.
The Rainiers scored four two-out runs in the bottom of the third on an RBI double from Landry, a two-run home run from Romero, and an RBI single from Kivlehan to take a 4-2 lead.
Baron's first career Triple-A home run, a three-run shot in the fourth inning, gave Tacoma a three run lead at 7-4. Baron recorded four RBI in the contest, his highest single-game total since August 9, 2013 while with the Advanced-A High Desert Mavericks.
Tacoma plated six more runs between the fifth and seventh innings to pull out ahead of Las Vegas for good, producing the final margin of 12-7.
Rainiers starting pitcher Stephen Landazuri worked 4.0 innings, allowing four runs on four hits with four walks and four hit batters. Lucas Luetge followed with 1.2 innings of relief, surrendering three runs on five hits and earning his first win of the season.
