Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
Albuquerque, NM - It was a night to forget for the Albuquerque Isotopes on Wednesday. Visiting El Paso scored multiple runs in each of the first six innings, cruising to a 20-7 victory in the second contest of a six-game series.
The Chihuahuas' explosion was highlighted by an eight-run second that included four homers, with much of the damage coming off starting pitcher Ben Braymer. Brandon Dixon continued to torture Isotopes pitching with a three-homer, eight RBI contest, while Ray Patrick-Didder went deep twice in the second frame alone.
Hunter Goodman remained on fire for Albuquerque since a promotion from Double-A, clearing the bases with a double in the first inning. Sean Bouchard was on base four times including a pair of doubles.
Topes Scope: - 20 runs scored by El Paso were the second-most surrendered by Isotopes pitching this season (24 on May 7 vs. Sugar Land). It was not the Chihuahuas highest-ever total against Albuquerque however, as they won 21-10 on May 20, 2019.
- El Paso finished with 24 hits, marking the seventh time the Isotopes have allowed two dozen or more in club history. Their 11 extra-base hits marked the fifth time Albuquerque allowed 11 or more in a contest this year and first since May 27 vs. Round Rock.
- The Chihuahuas belted six homers against the Isotopes for the second time this season (April 13). Both instances tied for Albuquerque's second-most allowed, as Sugar Land hammered a record-tying eight May 7.
- Patrick-Didder became the fourth player to homer twice in one inning against Albuquerque, and the second over the last 15 contests (Jakson Reetz, July 30 vs. Sacramento). The others to accomplish the feat were Brett Carroll (Aug. 24, 2010 vs. New Orleans) and Daulton Varsho (June 18, 2021 at Reno).
- Dixon is the 12th opposing player to hit three home runs in a game while facing the Isotopes, and second this season (Fernando Tatis Jr. on April 13 at El Paso). This marks the second time it has occurred multiple times in a campaign, along with 2004 (Jason Dubois, April 30 vs Iowa; Jorge Piedra, July 1 vs. Colorado Springs). Dixon's eight-RBI performance ties him for the second most by an opponent, done four total times, thrice this season (Victor Diaz, Sept. 1, 2007 vs. Oklahoma; Tatis, April 13 at El Paso; J.J. Matijevic, May 7 vs. Sugar Land).
- Albuquerque pitching relented a multi-homer game to a player for the 17th time this season. It was also the third occurrence of more than one player going deep multiple times in the same contest (Tatis and Yorman Rodriguez, April 13; Bligh Madris/Pedro Leon/Grae Kessinger, May 7).
- In nine career games at Isotopes Park, Dixon is 16-for-39 with five doubles, seven homers and 21 RBI. This includes a walk-off blast in a makeup game in which the Chihuahuas were the home team last Sept. 7.
- Albuquerque allowed 20 or more runs in a contest for the 11th time in club history. This year marks the fourth time it has happened twice in one season (2007, 2010, 2012).
- Bouchard reached base four times via pair of doubles and walks. It was his first contest with multiple two-baggers since doing it in consecutive ballgames Oct. 2-3, 2022 at Los Angeles.
- Wynton Bernard finished 2-for-4, his 19th multi-hit performance in 36 games with Albuquerque this season. He also swiped third base, his 12th steal during the timeframe.
- Goodman's bases-clearing double was his seventh extra-base hit in 29 plate appearances since joining the Isotopes. He has 16 RBI with the ballclub.
- Roman Quinn tripled and doubled, his first game with multiple extra-base knocks since April 17, 2022 for Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
- Jimmy Herron legged out an infield single, extending his on-base streak to 13 games. He is slashing .348/.492/.413 with three doubles, 10 walks and seven stolen bases during the stretch.
- For the second consecutive night and fifth time this season, all nine Albuquerque starters hit safely (April 18 vs. OKC, May 16 vs. Tacoma, June 9 vs. Sugar Land).
- The Isotopes finished with six doubles, one away from their most in a ballgame in 2023 (May 16 vs. Tacoma).
- Tonight marked the fifth time an Albuquerque starter was chased before the end of the second inning. Braymer's allowed nine earned runs against El Paso for the third time this season, and it was the eighth overall occurrence for an Isotopes hurler giving up nine earned or more in a game.
- Braymer has compiled an 0-5 record and 12.98 ERA (50 ER/34.2 IP) with 15 home runs allowed over his last nine starts. The league is batting .383 against him during the timeframe.
- Braymer was the second Isotopes pitcher to allow three homers in an inning over the last eight contests, as the same fate happened to Josh Rogers on Aug. 8 at Round Rock.
- Chance Adams relented multiple runs in an outing for the first time since Sept. 22, 2021 with Triple-A Omaha.
- The eight-run frame marked the 12th time in the last 17 contests Albuquerque has allowed five or more tallies in an inning. Overall, they have allowed double digits five times in the last eight games.
- The Isotopes committed three errors, their most since June 20 at Reno (three). It was their fifth contest with three or more miscues this season.
- El Paso leadoff hitter Tim Lopes came to the plate six times in the first six innings.
On Deck: The Isotopes and Chihuahuas square off again tomorrow night in Albuquerque. Right-handed pitcher Connor Seabold is slated to start for the home team against El Paso right-hander Nolan Watson. First pitch is set for 6:35 pm MT.
