Chiefs Visit Victoria for the First Time Since 2019
November 10, 2021 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Victoria Royals News Release
Victoria, B.C. - The Victoria Royals are preparing to take on the Spokane Chiefs at home this weekend for the first time since December 2019.
The Royals are coming off a tough overtime loss against the Kamloops Blazers last Saturday night. Victoria played a more aggressive and offensive style of hockey and are looking to build on that momentum going into this week.
"Spokane is a very good team. This is an exciting challenge for us this weekend," GM and Head Coach Dan Price said. "We've seen tremendous improvement in our group week by week and day by day. There is a great feeling of energy and momentum in and around the rink. We're focused on building that throughout this week and starting fast on Friday night."
Spokane is currently fourth in the U.S. Division having played 12 games with three wins and seven losses. This is the first time Royals goaltender Campbell Arnold will see his old team after having been traded from the Chiefs to the Royals last month.
The first of the two games begin at 7:05 p.m. on Friday and is the Royals Superhero Salute game where the team will honour and celebrate Victoria fire fighters. There will be two fire trucks on display for fans to explore, a small auction and a 50/50 with proceeds going towards the Greater Victoria Fire Fighter Charity Fund. The game will also feature a ceremonial puck drop and a second intermission mini game between fire fighters and minor hockey players.
Little Royals fans are encouraged to wear their favourite superhero costumes for Friday night's game, but in accordance with SOFMC policies no full-face coverings or props can be worn.
Saturday night is one for the dog loving Royals fans when the team hosts a Pucks and Paws night dedicated to all things canine. Proceeds from hot dog and Nude beverage sales are being donated to a local animal shelter. Plus, for the first 500 purchases of a Nude Beverage, fans will receive a free Nude Beverage Dog Chew Toy.
For tickets to Friday and Saturday's game, visit the Victoria Royals ticketing page or call the Select Your Ticket box office at 250-220-7777.
