Saskatoon Blades News Release

SASKATOON, SK - Brandon Lisowsky's two late goals and Tristen Robins overtime winner helped the Saskatoon Blades complete a late comeback against the Edmonton Oil Kings on Tuesday night at SaskTel Centre.

Despite trailing for most of the second half, the Blades found a way to climb back from a 3-1 deficit late to topple the Central Division's best 4-3 in overtime.

Draft eligible Lisowsky found the back of the net twice in the last five minutes of the game to force overtime and only 50 seconds into the extra frame, Robins netted his league-leading 25th point to win it for Saskatoon. It's the Blades 10th win of the year, improving to 10-4-1-0 on the campaign.

Blades goalie Nolan Maier was kept busy in net, stopping 29 of 32 shots and earning his 99th career win in blue and gold. Jayden Wiens rounded out the scoring for the home team.

Saskatoon will now hit the road with a wave of confidence, set to endure nine straight games away from SaskTel Centre, beginning with a 'three in three' swing through Manitoba this weekend.

Oil Kings goaltender Sebastian Cossa stopped 19 of 23 as Edmonton falls to 9-4-1-1.

Saskatoon's defense stood tall in the opening frame as they didn't allow a shot on goal in the first eight minutes. Both goalies did their job as Cossa stopped all eight and Maier saved all five shots to keep the game knotted at zero.

Midway through the second period, the goose egg was finally broken. Oil Kings forward Jalen Luypen fed Josh Williams in the slot who slid it past Maier to put Edmonton up 1-0.

Edmonton got another two minutes later, as Arizona Coyotes prospect Dylan Guenther went top shelf on a sharp angle shot to make it 2-0 on the powerplay.

The Oil Kings controlled most of the play in the second period, outshooting the Blades 17-5 to compliment their 2-0 lead heading into the third.

Cossa's bid for a shutout didn't last long into the third as 2:34 in, a turnover by Edmonton was picked up by Blades forward Jayden Wiens who cut into Oil Kings zone and slid it five-hole.

The Oil Kings answered back right away as Brendon Kuny found Jakub Demek alone in the slot who went short side on Maier to extend their lead to 3-1.

Edmonton looked poised for their 10th win of the campaign until a late charge from the Blades top-line paved the way for a late comeback.

With five minutes left in the game, Robins found the tape of Lisowsky in tight who put it past Cossa to make it a one-goal game.

Less than a minute later, Lisowsky netted his second of the night, firing a hard shot low glove from the left wing that fooled Cossa, knotting the contest at 3-3.

Only 50 seconds into overtime, captain Aiden De La Gorgondiere fed a cross-ice pass to Robins who flipped it over Cossa to win it for the Blades, 4-3.

The Blades now get set for a month-long road trip across the prairies with their first stop in Brandon to take on the Wheat Kings on Friday night.
