Chiefs Start Road Trip with 7-0 Loss to Seattle Thunderbirds

Kent, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs started their four-game road trip with a 7-0 loss to the Seattle Thunderbirds Friday night.

The Thunderbirds got things going just one minute into the first period when Jared Davidson netted his 15th goal of the season. At 5:27, Matthew Rempe tacked on a power play goal to give Seattle a 2-0 lead, which they'd hang on to for the rest of the period.

The second period again saw the Thunderbirds score just 1:32 into action, this time on a power play opportunity from Lucas Ciona. Ryan Gottfried added another goal for Seattle at 12:39 to make it 4-0 by the end of the second frame.

The third period was once again all Seattle, as they scored at 1:03 (Connor Roulette), 5:26 (Ciona) and 16:08 (Rempe) to pad the final score to 7-0.

Spokane forward Reed Jacobson made his return to the ice since being injured back on October 15 at Tri-City. Newly acquired forwards Nick McCarry (Kamloops) and Cade Hayes (Moose Jaw) made their debuts as Chiefs.

The Chiefs were outshot 40-19 on the night and went 0-for-6 on the power play and 1-for-3 on the penalty kill. Mason Beaupit had the start in net for Spokane, and turned aside 33 of 40 shots faced.

Up next, the Chiefs will head to Kennewick to take on the Tri-City Americans, who Spokane last faced on January 1 (W, 5-4).
