
Chiefs Score Six Runs in Sunday Loss

Peoria, IL - Despite scoring five runs in the eighth inning, the Peoria Chiefs fell to the Clinton LumberKings 10-6 Sunday night at Dozer Park. Alexis Wilson went two-for-four with a stolen base and threw out two baserunners earning the Pekin Insurance Beyond the Expected Player of the Game.
The Chiefs entered the bottom of the fourth trailing 3-0, but got on the board against Clinton starter Alberto Guerrero. With one out, Delvin Perez doubled and advanced to third on a groundout by Brendan Donovan. Leandro Cedeno plated Perez with his second single of the game to cut the deficit to 3-1.
Peoria continued to chip away at the deficit in the bottom of the eighth knocking LumerKings reliever Tyler Kolek out of the game. Brady Whalen, Jonatan Machado, and Perez walked to load the bases. During Donovan's at-bat, Whalen scored on a wild pitch to make the score 7-2. With one out, Machado scored on a wild pitch and Cedeno walked on a wild pitch that scored Perez to bring the Chiefs back to 7-4. The bats continued to roll as Brandon Riley reached on a fielder's choice and scored on a double by Imeldo Diaz to make the score 7-5. Wilson then reached on a throwing error by Clinton third baseman Bubba Hollins, and Diaz scored to bring the Chiefs within one, 7-6.
Logan Gragg (0-2) took the loss, pitching five innings while allowing three runs on seven hits with six strikeouts. Connor Thomas pitched two innings allowing two runs on four hits. Evan Sisk allowed two runs on five hits in one inning of work. In his Chiefs debut, Connor Coward pitched one inning allowing three runs on three hits with three strikeouts.
The Chiefs conclude their three-game series with the Clinton LumberKings on Monday at 12:05 p.m with Half-Price Ticket Monday, where all tickets are half price with $7.50, $6.50, $5.50, and $4.50 options. The broadcast can be heard, starting with the Pre-Game Show at 11:50 a.m. on the Peoria Chiefs Tune-In Page, which is free and also has a free app for smartphones and tablets. The game is also available on MiLB.TV for subscribers.
The School Supply Drive ends Monday. The Chiefs partnered with Midwest Technical Institute to collect school supplies which can be dropped off at Dozer Park.
