Chiefs pound Nailers

Johnstown, PA - In making his first appearance since returning from the Providence Bruins of the AHL, Chiefs goalie Ryan Nie earned a shutout with a 3-0 win over the Wheeling Nailers on Saturday. It was the first shutout of the year for Johnstown.

The scoring began with a power play tally from Randy Rowe at 5:09 of the second period. Standing at the far post, Rowe put home cross-crease pass from Kenny Roche. Approximately five minutes later Kris Kasper would score his third goal of the year with assists from Mark Tobin and BJ Crum.

Jean Desrochers would score his eighth goal of the year at 18:44 of the third period on the power play with assists from Mike Cohen and Kenny Roche.

Nie would stop all 21 of the shots he faced from the Nailers. Martin Houle turned aside 28 of 31 shots en route to the 3-0 loss. The Chiefs went 2-for-4 on the power play while holding the Nailers scoreless on two power play opportunities.

The next Chiefs home game is Friday December, 21 against the Cincinnati Cyclones at 7:05. The first 1,000 fans will receive a free lottery scratch off ticket presented by the Pennsylvania Lottery.
