CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Nov. 30, 2007)-- The Columbia Inferno (8-9-1-2, 19 points) fell to the Charlotte Checkers 1-0 (8-4-0-3, 19 points), one night after having beaten their rivals 4-1 at home.

Checkers winger Dusty Jamieson scored the game's only goal at 16:48 of the first period, beating Jeff Jakaitis for his eighth goal of the season. Jared Nightingale and Jordan Owens earned the assists.

Jakaitis was perfect for the rest of the game, stopping 24 of the 25 shots he faced. However, his Checkers counterpart, Curtis Darling, was also perfect. Darling denied all 23 shots the Inferno fired at him, marking the first time all season the Inferno have been shutout by an opponent.

The Inferno play their third game in three nights on Saturday, Dec. 1 as they host the Augusta Lynx at 7:05 for the sixth-annual WMHK 89.7 FM Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring a new stuffed animal to the game for $3 off any regularly priced ticket. After the Inferno score their first goal, the plush toys will be thrown on the ice and collected to be donated to local emergency responders. The toys will be given to help comfort children following tragedy.
