Ft. Wayne, IN - The Peoria Chiefs dropped a rain shortened game 8-1 to the Fort Wayne Wizards on Wednesday night. The loss, the team's second straight leaves the Chiefs in a first place tie at 18-15 after the game was called in the 7th inning.
The game began in the rain and the conditions never got better as the groundscrew poured quick dry on numerous spots every half inning. After an error allowed another run, Jesus Lopez doubled to left to bring in two more runs and end the night for Yepez. Justin Rayborn relieved Yepez and allowed a RBI single to Mike Sansone before an error allowed another run for an 8-0 Wizards lead.
The Chiefs picked up their lone run in the top of the 4th. Cleanup hitter Ryan Norwood drove a line-drive homer just over the left field wall for an 8-1 score. The homer was Norwood's third of the week and fifth of the season.
