Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

FOX CITIES STADIUM -- Randy Roth continued his hot hitting and Kyle Sadlowski gave up one run on four hits over six innings to lead the Swing of the Quad Cities to a 6-2 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Wednesday afternoon. Former Timber Rattler closer Brian Stitt got the final four outs of the game for his second save as a member of the Swing.

The Swing (15-18) broke the scoreless tie with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth. Brandon Yarbrough and Casey Rowlett had back-to-back RBI singles with one out off Rattler starting pitcher Paul Fagan.

Roth struck his Midwest League leading eleventh home run of the season with one out in the top of the fifth. The homer extended the Swing lead to 3-0 and Roth's minor league leading hitting streak to nineteen games.

Wisconsin (15-18) got to Sadlowski in the bottom of the sixth. Eddy Hernandez singled with two out to drive in Luis Valbuena and the Rattlers trailed 3-1.

Swing reliever Danny Borne hit Valbuena with one out in the bottom of the eighth to bring the tying run to the plate. Borne retired Casey Craig for the second out. Then, Stitt entered the game for the Swing. Stitt struck out JB Tucker to end the Rattler threat.

The Swing put the game away with three runs in the top of the ninth. Luis Cotto drove in a run with a single. Colby Rasmus followed by slamming his fifth home run of the season to dead center for a 6-1 Swing lead. All three runs were scored off Edgar Guaramato.

Stitt gave up a run on an infield grounder by Bryan Sabatella in the bottom of the ninth to cut the lead to 6-2. Stitt, who had sixteen saves as the Rattler closer in 2004, got the final out of the game though and recorded his second save in two appearances against the Rattlers in this series.

The four game series concludes Thursday night. Harold Williams (0-0, 0.89) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Rattlers. Jaime Garcia (2-2, 2.50) is slated to start for the Swing. Game time is 6:35pm.
