Johnstown Chiefs News Release

TRENTON, Nj. - The Johnstown Chiefs dropped their third game in a row at Sovereign Bank Arena on Wednesday night, falling by a score of 6-1.

Like they have all season, Trenton used strong special teams play to build a big lead in the first period. The Devils got on the scoreboard at 2:36 with a shorthanded goal by Jeff Prough, his 11th of the season. That score was followed by three Trenton tallies on the power play. Brad Snetsinger cashed in twice, at 9:50 and at 14:36, and Matt Cohen added one for good measure with 1:15 left in the opening frame. Trenton went 3-for-6 on the power play in the first period while Johnstown managed five shots on goal.

The Devils came out strong in the second period, as well, and made sure that Johnstown wouldn't get a chance to win some momentum back. Prough lifted a nifty backhander past Mayotte just 30 seconds into the middle frame to give Trenton a 5-0 advantage. Sean Berkstresser got the Chiefs on the board with 2:58 gone by in the second with a tip-in goal on a shot from the point by Kyle Bushee. The goal extended Berkstresser's point streak to a career-high four games.

Trenton managed the only marker in the third period with Jeremy Akeson scoring on a breakaway after stripping Jon Landry of the puck at the Devils' blue line. The unassisted goal came at 6:23 of the third period.

Mayotte ended the game with 27 saves on 33 shots while the Chiefs' power play went 0-for-6.
