
5th Annual Tip-A-Checker Set For January 25

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Fans will have a chance to hang out with their favorite Charlotte Checkers and CheckMates, win great prizes and help out a worthy charity by participating in the team's 5th Annual Tip-A-Checker event on Sunday, Jan. 25.
The Charlotte Checkers are holding the event at Brixx Wood Fired Pizza located in the entertainment district in Uptown Charlotte at the bottom of 7th Street Station. The festivities will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Checkers players will take some time off the ice and tie on their aprons to serve as waiters and bartenders. They will also assist with a live auction that will include various sports memorabilia such as autographed jerseys, sticks, baseballs, helmets, jackets and tickets to other sporting events. Airline tickets, restaurant gift-cards and Checkers memorabilia will also be a part of the live auction. Players and CheckMates will be available for autographs and pictures all evening long.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Charlotte. JDRF is recognized as the largest nonprofit organization for diabetes worldwide. They have allocated more than $1 billion for diabetes research and increasing awareness of the complications for diabetes.
An adult dinner will include a salad, any specialty pizza and non-alcoholic beverage. The children's meal will include a small pizza and beverage. Cost for admission to "Tip-A-Checker" is $25 for adults and $15 for children. Checkers gifts are also included in the registration fee.

The Checkers are playing in their 16th season of play as a member of the ECHL. The next home game will take place on Jan. 16 against the Mississippi Sea Wolves at 7:00 p.m. In the team's 15-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 11 times including four consecutive playoff appearances to date. The Checkers are in their fourth season of play at Time Warner Cable Arena. Season tickets are still on sale with full-season packages starting at just $200.
